VINTON, Iowa (July 11, 2023) – The Urbana Five Memorial has always been one of the biggest events of the year at Benton County Speedway.
This year’s edition promises to be the biggest yet.
The ninth annual event, which honors the memory of five area youth who lost their lives in a traffic accident just a few miles north of Vinton in 2015, will boast increased purses across the board this Sunday, July 16 at The Bullring.
The Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods presented by Houdek Auto Center headline Sunday action as they vie for a $2,000 winner’s share in their $100 to start event. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Christie Door Company race for $1,900 to win and $75 to start.
Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds presented by Beaty Excavating will race for an $1,800 top prize and $110 to start, and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks presented by Vermedahl Trucking compete for $900 to win and $75 to start.
Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts presented by iHeart Radio and INEX Legends presented by Legends.Direct each boast $500 winner’s shares. Each of those events pay $60 to start.
Respective IMCA Super Nationals All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility is also up-for-grabs in the Modified and Stock Car divisions.
The event will be draw/redraw in all six divisions. State, Regional and Nationals points will be awarded, as applicable, however there will be no track points awarded in any division Sunday night.
There is no entry fee for the event.
Both pits and grandstand open at 3:30, with hot laps scheduled for 5:30 and racing to follow.
Adult grandstand admission is $16, seniors and veterans $14, and ages 6-14 $5. Kids ages five and under will be admitted free if accompanying a paid adult.
Pit passes are $30.
In addition to the racing program, there will be numerous door prizes and a 50/50 raffle for those in attendance.
