Berry, Lewis top End of Summer Madness at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (Aug. 25, 2024) – The 2024 season came to an end with the End of Summer Madness special Sunday night at Benton County Speedway.

Headlining action was the championship night for the PRO Late Model Tour, along with the Midwest Dirt Shootout for INEX Legends presented by Legends.Direct.

Tom Berry Jr. earned the first Late Model win of his career just a couple weeks ago at the speedway. He followed that up with his second win during Sunday’s championship.

Berry engaged in a terrific three car battle with J.D. Auringer and Zach Less, with the trio exchanging sliders and the top spot throughout the middle stages of the 30-lapper.

Berry eventually proved to be too strong as he drove to the $3,500 payday. Auringer ran second ahead of Less and Luke Peskta, who started 11th.

Jackson Lewis raced the top groove to victory in the $2,500-to-win, 25-lap Legends main. Lewis, who led throughout the event, fought off repeated pressure from Michael Weber to score the victory. Robby Morrison and Kacey Korsmo completed the top four.

In other action, Jeff Aikey earned the $1,000 payday by topping the 20-lapper for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds presented by Wright Way Trailers. Aikey took advantage of his front row starting spot to take the win ahead of a charging Troy Cordes. Kip Siems and Ben Chapman rounded out the top four.

Tony Olson raced to the win in the 15-lapper for Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. Olson took charge at the drop of the green and never looked back on his way to victory. Jake Sachau ran second ahead of Chris Burke and Kyle Olson.

Nathan Ballard scored the win in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks presented by iHeart Radio. After an intense battle with Joren Fisher, Ballard drove away to the win. Fisher, Dalton Weepie and Mike Smith completed the top four.

Cristian Grady earned a hard-fought win in the 12-lap feature for Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts. As many as five drivers were within striking distance or spent time out front before Grady pulled away late to seal the victory ahead of Stephen Randall, Spencer Roggentien and Robert Rundle.
